What Is Thai Yoga?
The fundamental theory of Thai Bodywork is the concept that all life at its most basic level is energy. This energy, call Prana in Sanskrit (Chi in Chinese), flows along a network of channels or lines (nadis or meridians) throughout the body. In the Yoga tradition there are said to be 72,000 nadis. Each has a specific function and energy that it deals with. In the Thai tradition the focus is on 10 main lines called 'Sen'. Health in eastern philosophies is regarded as a state of balance between these energies, where all the systems of the body function in harmony with each other.
Thai Yoga is a slow, rhythmic, meditative style of bodywork that uses mainly compression and stretching techniques to stimulate the flow of energy within the body, opening the areas which are blocked and bringing the body back into balance. Often reffed to as passive yoga.
